NUMBER OF STATIONARY KITS DONATED: 500

SIBUYAO | MARINDUQUE, PHILIPPINES

A huge thank you to all that donated towards purchasing stationary kits for Sibuyao Elementary School. With your generous support we have been able to purchase 500 full sets of stationary for primary students attending the school. Sibuyao is a Barangay located in Torrijos, Marinduque. Torrijos is considered a third class municipality with a population of around 30,000. Although rich in culture and history the primary school drop out rate has remained high, largley due to government underfunding and heavy reliance on a unstable agricultural industry. Sibuyao itself has an estimated population of 1,604 and a land area of 1,661.43 hectares. Although higher education attendance is increasing, this has only lead to greater disparity and inequality as only those of high income households are attending. By reaching out to rural communities such as Sibuyao where private sector assistance is lacking and providing the resources required for students to complete a full course of quality education you have helped in bridging the gap and provding equal employment oppurtunities to the children responsible for breaking this vicous cycle of poverty, and bringing Philippines from third world, to developed.
